Frequently Asked Questions
Below we have tried to answer some of the questions which we receive on a regular basis. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us for more information.
WHY SHOULD WE HAVE A VIDEOGRAPHER?
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. You spend most of your spare time leading up to it making sure that it will turn out just the way you’ve always imagined it. If you are going to dedicate so much time and effort to it, why wouldn’t you want to have it professionally captured forever on dvd so you can revisit it again and again in the years to come. Remember – you will only wear that beautiful white dress once. It should be recorded forever on DVD so you can enjoy and share this day with loved ones for years to come.
WHY DON’T I JUST GET A FRIEND TO FILM OUR WEDDING DAY FOR US?
To answer this very common question, you need to ask yourself a simple question – Would you be happy with a friend photographing your wedding?
Times are changing and professionally filmed and edited wedding dvds are now considered just as important as professional photographs. As more and more married couples show their wedding dvds to friends and family, people are realising what a professional videographer can do nowadays. Getting anything done by a professional as opposed to an amateur is worth its weight in gold. Most amateur wedding dvds are shot on cheap cameras that feature shaky camerwork, poor camera positions, poor sound and simple editing. Some don’t even get edited.
If it matters enough to you to be considering a dvd then get it done by a professional. You will not regret it in the years to come.
SHOULD I GO WITH THE CHEAPEST OFFER I CAN FIND?
In the times we are living in now you will find that there will be prices out there for wedding dvds that will be lower than they have ever been. Like any service you must be careful with the offers that seem “too good to be true”. The work that goes into a wedding dvd is long and complex. It involves editing of many hours of footage, fine tuning it so that it captures the atmosphere of the day just right. Not to mention the full day of filming.
The best way to decide is to see for yourself. Ask for a dvd sample and you will get a better idea of style and technique. A price is one thing, what you will receive after is another. Make sure you aren’t disappointed.
WILL A VIDEOGRAPHER BE OBTRUSIVE?
Videographers are there to film you and your guests discreetly. It is their job to catch those priceless moments naturally so discetion is essential. Brian will never ask you to pose for his camera. That’s the photographer’s job. Videographers are filming behind the scenes. A professional videographer strives to be invisible so that the footage will be authentic and relaxed.
HOW DO YOU WORK WITH PHOTOGRAPHERS?
Brian prides himself on discretion, not only for the bride and groom but also for the photographer. He understands that the photographer has a job to do as much as he does and so never intrudes to ask questions as he will have acquired all the information he needs before the day. He will also never ask the couple to pose for his camera which would slow things up for the photographer as well as the couple.
Brian has worked with big names in wedding photography in Cork as well as many of the photographers based in neighbouring counties such as Kerry and Limerick. He has always enjoyed a pleasant and professional relationship with all of them and has been delighted to find that his name has been recommended by many of them to couples from all over the country.
HOW LONG WILL MY WEDDING DVD FILM BE?
Brian will edit the footage down to between 90 minutes and two hours. Factors that can alter this are the length of the speeches and how many locations that are visited along the way between the church and the hotel. Of course, if you have any preferences then Brian can edit the dvd to whatever length you like. For example, if you would just like a half hour dvd plus speeches then this can easily be arranged.
WHEN WILL MY WEDDING DVDS BE READY?
Depending on the time of the year, the length of time to complete your dvd can vary. For example summer and Christmas are particularly busy times as there is often a backlog of editing from previous clients. However, normally your dvd’s will be ready approx three/four weeks after the wedding day.
DO WE NEED TO PROVIDE A MEAL FOR THE VIDEOGRAPHER?
A meal would be politely requested for the videographer as he will be with you filming for the day from morning until night. Bar food is perfectly fine and is greatly appreciated.
HOW CAN I BOOK YOU?
Simply call or email Brian and inform him you would like to book him. You will then need to send on a booking deposit of €100. The balance of the fee is then required in full either before or on the day of the wedding.
Payment can be made by cheque, cash, bank draft or bank transfer.
